Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed fully recognises the contribution it makes to child protection. There are three main elements to our policy:

Prevention through the teaching and pastoral support offered to pupils
Procedures for identifying and reporting cases, or suspected cases of abuse. Because of our day to day contact with children, school staff are well placed to observe the outward signs of abuse.
Support pupils who may have been abused

If you have any concerns about a child or an adult, report to your designated member of staff (Head of Progress and Wellbeing or our school office who will be able to locate the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) straight away:

To ensure we maintain up to date student contact/medical information for our school records, it is the responsibility of the parent/carer to email gwent.iscoed@ysgolioncasnewydd.cymru, at the earliest opportunity regarding any amendments/deletions to contact details eg: moving house, telephone numbers, email address etc. or to a student’s medical info.
Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed does not take responsibility for any items lost on the premises. It is the student’s responsibility to search for their lost item(s) and they will be advised to retrace their steps and visit their classrooms or Main Reception to locate lost items.
Please ensure that your child’s items are clearly labelled with their full name to enable us to return items to the correct person. Students are able to access the Main Reception at break and lunch time if they have lost an item, however, we cannot take responsibility if an item is collected by the wrong person.
