End of Year Update.

Good morning,
We have come to the end of another busy and exciting year in the history of Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support.
This year we saw our second cohort of learners sit their A Level exams. We’re looking forward to receiving these results and the GCSE results in August. There have also been a large number of activities, extra -curricular trips and sports competitions. Here is a link to a presentation showing some of these activities Lluniau Tymor Haf 2025
We will continue with this important provision in the next academic year to ensure that all learners receive valuable experiences that enrich their education.
None of the above would be possible without the hard work of our staff. The staff at Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed are a fantastic group of people who give their best at all times with enthusiasm and passion. I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for their resilience, support and innovation.
We wish the best of luck to Mr Morgan Pritchard who is leaving us following a period teaching the lessons of a member of staff who was on maternity leave. We also wish Mr Deian Jones well as he is going to work with the WJEC for two and a half terms next year before returning to us in June 2026.

School uniform
Wearing the correct uniform is essential so that everyone feels that they are a part of the school community. There is a presentation in this link which outlines the expectations of the school uniform Gwisg Ysgol 2025-2026 School Uniform.pptx Our new Sports Hall will be ready for September so learners will no longer need to come to school in their physical education uniform on the day of their lessons. All learners should come to school in their correct school uniform then change into their physical education uniform before the lesson. We would appreciate your support to ensure that all our learners adhere to our expectations in this regard.
Here is a link to apply for a grant to assist with the purchase of school uniforms and resources - School Essentials Grant: help with school costs | GOV.WALES
The uniform shop will be open in September (date to be confirmed) and we are still receiving school uniform donations.
We ask that you don’t let your child come to school wearing a lot of make -up or with unnatural hair colour. Learners are allowed to wear one small earring in each ear only. We do not allow bright coloured nail varnish or fake nails for health and safety reasons. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Equipment
Learners are expected to bring appropriate stationery equipment to school and their pencil cases should include: black/blue pens, red pen, pencil, ruler and rubber. Learners are not allowed to bring "Tipp-Ex".
Learners should also bring a water bottle to school.
As we look forward to another successful academic year in 2025-2026 I wish you all a happy holiday.
Kind regards,
Mrs Eirian Jones
Headteacher
