End of Term Update.
Good morning,
It’s been a long but very productive term at Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their hard work, enthusiasm and energy. Our children are extremely fortunate, with very good teaching and learning and excellent results. All have made significant progress during the term because of the valuable learning experiences provided to them by their teachers. I would also like to thank you as parents and carers for your continued support.
The building work on the site has finally come to an end and we have had the use of a fantastic Sports Hall since September. We are so proud of this excellent facility. We have also finished building a heat source pump which means that we will stop using gas in the school completely over the next two years. The completion of this work has freed up a great deal of space in the car park and I would like to thank you as parents/carers for complying with the new drop off and pick up procedure ensuring that our children arrive and leave school safely.
During the first half term Estyn came on an interim visit to measure the progress we’ve made against our recommendations since the core inspection in May 2022. The letter received following the visit was very positive and the South Wales Argus published an article at the weekend praising the progress we have made as a school. Here is a link to the article -

As you know, our school uniform policy is very flexible. However, recently, a few learners are not complying as they should. Could you please ensure that your children follow the school uniform policy in the link - Gwisg Ysgol 2025-2026 School Uniform.pptx
We are still accepting donations for the school uniform shop. Any item of clean school uniform would be greatly appreciated, especially hoodies/sweatshirts/sweaters or plain black leggings/tracksuits suitable for physical education. Parents/carers are welcome to visit the shop at any time.
Attendance
It is imperative that learners attend school at all times, unless they are ill. Our attendance has decreased slightly at the end of this term and we need to work together to ensure that learners don’t miss out on their education and that they’re able to make the necessary progress with their teachers’ support in school.
